CMY stands for Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow — the primary colors of the subtractive color system used in printing. From these three pigments, all other printable colors can be created.

You may also see the term CMYK, where K refers to Black ink. Fun fact: early home printers didn’t include black ink! But because most office printing involves black text, mixing Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow became unnecessarily costly — thus Black cartridges.

CMY Codes in the Kolormondo Pro 3D Color Globe

In the Kolormondo Pro 3D color globe, every color is precisely defined using a CMY code. For example:

  • Pure Cyan: C100, M0, Y0

  • Pure Magenta: C0, M100, Y0

Move one step inward from pure Magenta: a little Cyan + have been added,  giving:

C13, M87, Y13

Move downward into deeper, darker colors toward the South Pole:

C33, M100, Y33
C42, M92, Y42

Even the smallest shift in the globe results in a visually distinct and measurable color. That’s the magic of CMY!

A Game for Color Nerds 🎨

With Kolormondo Pro, you can:

  • Guess the CMY code of a color

If you love color, this is pure joy!
